During his visit, PM Modi will perform pooja and darshan at the winter seat of Maa Ganga in Mukhwa around 9:30 am, followed by flagging off a trek and bike rally at 10:40 am. He will also address a gathering at a public function in Harsil.

Taking to X, CM Dhami expressed, “Hearty welcome and greetings to the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji on his arrival in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, the holy land of religion, spirituality, and sacrifice. Dhami further emphasized the significance of the visit, stating, “Certainly, this winter trip of yours will give new dimensions to the cultural, spiritual, and tourism development of our state.”

Ahead of the public meeting, large crowds gathered in Harshil to meet PM Modi and CM Dhami. In a post on ‘X’, PM Modi reiterated his commitment to enhancing tourism in Uttarakhand, expressing his excitement to worship Maa Ganga at Mukhwa and visit the winter residence of the holy river. He noted, “This holy place is famous all over the world for its spiritual significance and amazing beauty. Not only this, it is a unique example of our resolve of ‘heritage as well as development.'”

In line with his visit, Dhami highlighted that the PM’s trip aims to promote the Winter Tourism Programme, designed to make destinations like Mukhwa and Harshil more popular both nationally and internationally. He noted that the initiative would positively impact local businesses, including shops, taxi drivers, and tour guides, by increasing year-round tourism.

The Uttarakhand government has launched the Winter Tourism programme this year, attracting thousands of devotees to Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The program is set to boost the local economy and enhance religious tourism, benefiting homestays and tourism businesses.
